Major Upgrade to PLI Services at Counters — Phase II of IT 2.0 Completed

The Postal Life Insurance (PLI) Directorate has successfully completed Phase II of the IT 2.0 digital transformation, bringing faster, more efficient and broader services to post office counters across Head Offices (HOs) and Sub Offices (SOs).


How this upgrade helps counter staff

With Phase II now rolled out, Postal Assistants at HOs and SOs can access a much wider range of PLI services directly through the Core Insurance Solution module in APT 2.0. This reduces manual work and dependency on back-office processing, enabling staff to serve policyholders faster and more effectively at the counter.

Key services now available at counters

New Business & Policy Inquiry

  • Generate New Business Quotes and complete Indexing.
  • Instantly view policy summaries.
  • Use Customer Search to find policy and customer details quickly.

Financial & Claim Processing

  • Claims: Death Claim, Maturity Claim, Survivor Claim.
  • Quotes: Loan, Surrender, Revival quotes.
  • Financial Requests / Indexing: Refund of Premium/Loan, Withdrawal Requests.
  • Policy Changes: Commutation, Conversion, Reduced Paid-up, Surrender.

Essential Policy Updates & Service Requests

  • Contact updates: Add / change mobile number and email ID.
  • Personal details: Address and name changes.
  • Policy administration: Assignment/Reassignment, Billing frequency/method change, Change of nomination, Agent change.
  • Other services: Issue duplicate policy bond or premium receipt book.

Tracking & Status Checks

  • Real-time Transaction Status and Disbursement Status checks.
  • View Missing Requirement Documents for pending requests.
  • See lists of Eligible Requests for Withdrawal.
