Dearness Allowance for GDS Raised to 58% (w.e.f. 01 July 2025)

Published: 10 October 2025 — Department of Posts, Government of India

Good news for Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS). The Department of Posts has announced that the Dearness Allowance (DA) for GDS will be increased to 58% of basic TRCA, effective from 1 July 2025. This brings the DA for GDS in line with the rates being paid to Central Government employees.

The change follows the Ministry of Finance Office Memorandum No. 1/4(i)/2025-E.II(B) dated 6 October 2025, and the Department of Posts has issued the implementing order on 10 October 2025. All Gramin Dak Sevaks are covered by this decision.

In terms of accounting, the additional expenditure will be charged to the relevant “Salaries” head and will be met from the sanctioned grants. The Integrated Finance Division has provided its concurrence for this sanction.
