How to Find 15-Digit Head of Account (HoA) Using 10-Digit GL Code in SAP?

In the SAP Module used by the Department of Posts (DOP), General Ledger (GL) codes play a crucial role in financial transactions. Post Office employees often need to find the 15-digit Head of Account (HoA) from the 10-digit GL Code. Here are three methods to retrieve the HoA Code in SAP.

Method 1: GL Account Master Record Maintenance (FS00)

This method allows users to access the 15-digit Head of Account by using the 10-digit GL Code through the GL Account Master Record.

Steps to Find HoA Code Using FS00:

  1. Open SAP and enter T-Code: FS00.

  2. Enter the 10-digit GL Code in the input field.

  3. Click on Display.

  4. Here, you will find the 15-digit Head of Account along with additional details such as:

    • Created On

    • Created By

    • Chart of Accounts

    • Country

    • FM Area

    • Controlling Area

For Post Offices, the FM Area and Controlling Area are set as DOPI in SAP.

Method 2: Display Master Record (FS03)

The FS03 T-Code allows users to display the GL master record and retrieve the associated Head of Account (HoA).

Steps to Find HoA Code Using FS03:

  1. Open SAP and enter T-Code: FS03.

  2. Input the 10-digit GL Code.

  3. Click Display to retrieve details.

  4. The screen will show relevant information, including the 15-digit HoA.

Method 3: Display Commitment Item (FMCIC)

The Commitment Item linked to a GL Code/HoA can also be identified using the FMCIC transaction code.

Steps to Find HoA Code Using FMCIC:

  1. Open SAP and enter T-Code: FMCIC.

  2. Enter the commitment item details.

  3. Click Execute to view the 15-digit HoA and other financial information.

Conclusion

By following these three methods (FS00, FS03, and FMCIC), Post Office employees can easily find the 15-digit Head of Account (HoA) associated with a 10-digit GL Code in the SAP module. These transactions help in better financial management and record-keeping within the Department of Posts.
