The Ministry of Communications, Department of Posts, has issued an official order regarding the exercise of statutory powers of the Director General Postal Services (DGPS). The order, numbered 1-7/2020-SPG, was released on February 3, 2025, from Dak Bhawan, Sansad Marg, New Delhi.

Key Highlights of the Order
1.Secretary (Posts) to Exercise DGPS Powers
- The Secretary (Posts) will now exercise the statutory powers of Director General Postal Services in addition to her existing responsibilities.
- No extra remuneration will be provided for these additional duties.
- This arrangement will continue until a regular DGPS joins or until further orders.
2. Current Charge Assigned to Shri Jitendra Gupta (IPoS:1989)
- Shri Jitendra Gupta, Member (Financial Services), Postal Services Board, will hold the current charge of Director General Postal Services along with his existing duties.
- He will also not receive extra remuneration for this additional responsibility.
- This arrangement will remain in effect until further orders.
